Sports Radio Giant Jim Rome Coming To Portland Meadows On Monday November 2, 2009
Sports radio's number one personality Jim Rome will be making a rare appearance in Portland and will be at Portland Meadows for a special VIP party on Monday November 2. Rome will broadcast his nationally syndicated show from the studios of 95.5 The Game from 9am to 12pm and will then head to Portland Meadows to host a VIP party from 1:30pm to 3:30pm in the Portland Meadows Turf Club.
Fans will have numerous opportunities to win tickets to this event at various ticket drops starting on September 28 and going through October 30 with the first ticket drop at Portland Meadows. Jim Rome, known nationally as the host of the Jim Rome Radio Show & ESPN's Rome is Burning, is also an avid fan of horse racing and owns horses that race primarily in Southern California.
Harrah's Entertainment has won an auction to purchase Thistledown racetrack outside of Columbus in Ohio in a deal that could be worth as much as $89.5 million to the track's former owner, the bankrupt racetrack operator Magna Entertainment Corp., according to court documents.
Also on Tuesday, Magna accepted a stalking-horse bid of $27 million from a company owned by the Chickasaw Indian Nation for the operating assets of Lone Star Park, a racetrack in Grand Prairie, Texas, midway between Dallas and Fort Worth, according to the companies.

The Oregon Racing Commission will meet Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Harney
County Chamber of Commerce located at 484 N Broadway Avenue in Burns, Oregon. The
commission may go into executive session to consider information or records exempt from disclosure
pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(f) and/or to consult with counsel concerning its legal rights and duties
regarding litigation likely to be filed pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(h). The commission may also elect to
deliberate on pending contested cases pursuant to ORS 192.690(1). Additional items may be placed on
the agenda after the general mailing of the agenda. Calls may be made to the commission office the

...Also withdrawn from the auction was Portland Meadows in Oregon, an interest in a retail development at Santa Anita, a horse-bedding company, and a vacant property in Northern California.
Overbrook Farm stallion Grindstone will continue his stallion career at veterinarian Jack Root’s Oakhurst Equine Farm near Newberg, Ore., according to Ric Waldman, Overbrook’s advisor and manager of stallion operations.
From an e-mail sent by Jack Root a few weeks ago, the advertised fee for Grindstone will be $2,250 LFG. There were opportunities for previous Oakhurst clients who made committments for the 2010 & 2011 seasons to recieve future breedings for as low as $1,000 LFG.

A federal bankruptcy judge in Delaware has ruled that creditors of Magna Entertainment Corp. can sue company founder and chairman Frank Stronach and other directors and officers in connection with the racetrack operating company's bankruptcy.

Global Gaming Solutions RP, LLC executed an agreement Aug. 11 with a subsidiary of Magna Entertainment Corp. for the sale of Remington Park to Global Gaming Solutions RP, LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The purchaser, GGS RP, is owned by the Chickasaw Nation, which has significant business operations in Oklahoma, Texas, and other states.
